About FloraWood
FloraWood is a blooming botanical design business that brings the beauty of nature to life.
With locally sourced plants and flowers from Oregon growers, you can trust FloraWood to create one-of-a kind floral designs shaped by the seasons. Jen's cutting garden provides fresh cut flowers as well–perfect for creating gorgeous, bespoke floral arrangements. FloraWood enhances client’s lives by bringing natural beauty to their homes.
Hi, I'm Jen Wilcoxon (she/her/hers), plant and flower enthusiast and creative entrepreneur.
I founded FloraWood in 2019 to share my love of all things green with others via custom floral and botanical designs. I enjoy sourcing most of my plants and flowers from local Oregon growers and use some of my own flowers that grow right outside my studio!
From day one, my vision for FloraWood was to bring people together in beautiful spaces and share the joy of creating. I sought ways to turn my vision into reality, starting with workshops in different locations around Portland while also offering container design services. Soon, clients requested cut flower bouquets for special occasions too, which led me towards designing bespoke garden style arrangements for any occasion!
After two years of working in whatever space I could find (basement and driveway included!), it was time for a proper place to create and host workshops. During the summer of 2021, I took the plunge and created my very own garden studio that is both beautiful AND functional.
I live in Portland, Oregon where nature’s beauty is bountiful with my husband and two daughters. Our family includes our furry friends: two dogs, a cat, plus some lion head bunnies and a lizard — I lovingly call them all “the zoo.”
OUR STORY
I set my intention for FloraWood when I built the studio and wrote it on the foundation.
Growth, Beauty, Abundance, Creativity, Community, Friends, Joy.
I have manifested all of these things through FloraWood–who knew how deeply it would resonate with me? In the process of creating and building my client base, I have learned much about myself. FloraWood has allowed me to slow down and really pay attention to the rhythm of nature and the plants and flowers of each season. I feel reconnected with nature’s beauty anew each season and enjoy the creative process of designing bespoke floral and botanical arrangements for my clients. By building FloraWood, I feel as though I created the perfect job for myself after having a career in marketing and then a hiatus from the corporate world so I could focus on raising my two girls while also volunteering in my community.
Professional Training
I enjoy getting my hands dirty and putting in the hard work. I've invested countless hours into perfecting my craft, from planting hundreds of containers and arranging thousands of flowers! To grow in my profession I have taken advantage of various workshops including EMERGE in Bozeman Montana where Julio Freitas, owner of The Flower Hat, taught the fundamentals of floral theory and design to help me develop my own creativity and style. I also completed Tallulah Rose Flower School’s Career Change Course in Kendal, England where our class of 10 was taught everything from writing your own business plan to branding and pricing, all while learning valuable hands-on sustainable floristry skills.
In October of 2024 I attended an artist retreat at Fleuropean in Belgium where I had the chance to grow my craft with other floral creatives and reenergize my relationship with flowers, nature, art and creating.
As a proud member of Digging In Gathering, a national organization for professional container designers, I have access to top-tier education and networking opportunities with fellow business owners.
“FloraWood is a dream floral designer! From plants to stage a house for sale, to choosing outdoor planters, to floral arrangements for birthdays and seasonal indoor succulents, Jen can truly do it ALL.
I've been delighted with Every. Single. Order.”
